Welcome to the world of theatre! This 8-week course is perfect for a budding theatre beginner. Each week, students will focus on a specific skill. Check out the class descriptions below. Allow your young star to make new friends and try something new while developing their acting skills. This class will culminate in an invited showcase on the final day of class, during which parents can come and watch the students present what they have worked on in class. 

Feb 20th  ACTOR’S TOOLBOX: Discover the many tools actors use, including voice, movement, facial expressions, and imagination.

Feb 27th THEATER GAMES: Play exciting theatre games that build confidence, creativity, listening skills, and teamwork.

March 6th SING IT OUT: Explore how singing can help actors express feelings, tell stories, and bring characters to life.

March 13th MOVE ABOUT: A high energy class where students explore the joys and basics of musical theatre dance.

March 20TH  IMPROV ADVENTURES: Think quickly, work together, and have fun creating scenes without a script.

April 3rd CHARACTER QUEST: Step into the shoes of a character and explore how actors use voices, movements, and imagination to make them come alive.

April 10th  ACTING CHOICES: Learn how actors use voice, movement, emotion, and intention to make strong and believable choices onstage.

April 17th SHOWTIME: Put your theatre skills together as you rehearse and perform a fun piece for an audience of family and friends.

1-hour class, 9:00 - 10:00 AM, 8 week course. Feb. 20th -  April 17th. No class March 27th. Great for students ages 6-9. To ensure a safe and successful experience for all, students must be able to participate independently in the activities and classroom environment.

Feb. 20th IMPROV & SPONTANEITY: Think on your feet and trust your instincts! Build confidence, listening skills, and creativity through improv games, character challenges, and spontaneous scene work.

Feb 27th: SCENE WORK: Step into the world of scripted acting! Learn how to break down a scene, understand your character, work with a scene partner, and make strong acting choices.

March 6th:  BUILDING A CHARACTER: What makes a character believable? Explore character motivation, relationships, physicality, voice, and emotion as you create characters of your own.

March 13th: ACTING THROUGH SONG: Discover how actors use music to tell a story. Explore character, emotion, vocal expression, and storytelling while performing musical theatre selections.

March 20th: Devise! Create!: Work together to create original scenes from the ground up! Develop characters, explore relationships, build a story, and make creative choices as you bring your own scenes to life.

April 3rd: PROPS & PERFORMANCE: Discover how actors use props to bring characters and stories to life. Practice incorporating everyday objects into scenes while exploring creativity, storytelling, and performance choices.

April 10th: BROADWAY BOUND: Combine singing and acting while developing the confidence, skills, and stage presence of a musical theatre performer.

April 17th IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Put your skills into action as you rehearse and perform a showcase celebrating your creativity, confidence, and growth on stage.
